Style Tips For A Business Casual Look

If you are wondering what business casual means, then you should know it's a more relaxed look of business professional dress code. This look is mostly for ladies that work in creative industries and have less formal dress conduct.

Although dressing for work in such free environments can seem easy that's why so many people still get it all wrong, but with few rules added with a bit of your personal style, you'll be the talk of your colleagues at work.

Below are some ideas and tips that will guide you in pulling off a business casual look properly...Be inspired!

#1. Make sure your clothing and shoes are comfortable. The more comfortable you feel, the more confident you are.

#2. Dressing business casual means wearing conservative colors, including black, grey and beige. Cotton, silk and lacy fabrics are appropriate but avoid anything neon or shiny. But for a more creative work environment, you can add a little color to your outfit like the image below.

#3. Coordinate your bag with your shoes and choose a small bag over a large and floppy outfit. Closed-toe heels or flats are the best option. Leather shoes, formal open-toe shoes, and strapped heel shoes  are okay too -- but absolutely no flat sandals, flip flops, sneakers, or casual boots.

#4. Light jewelry and a simple, nice-looking bag or purse is fine. No hats or fedoras ladies unless it's required for religious purposes or outdoor meetings.

#5. A dress is a great choice to pull off a business casual look, but it is important that you pick the right one. Sun dresses, and evening gowns are a big no-no – they’re way to informal, except you want to pair them with a formal jacket.

#6. Sophisticated patterns and prints are the way to go for a business casual look. But try not to wear too bold patterns.

#7. A classic blazer is a fun way to spice up your business casual look. Layer it over a blouse or tank-top and trousers/skirt or a jumpsuit.

#8. If you are wearing a simple outfit, you can use statement jewellery to express your personal style and vis-versa. But don't wear both- choose one or the other.

#9. Make sure to wear a belt if you tuck your shirt into trousers. Never wear a shirt or dress that is too reaveling.

#10. Lastly, business casual is a classic, neat look. All pieces should be pressed and fit well; nothing should be too tight or too baggy. Pants should be creased and pieces should be in good shape. Stay away from clothing that is worn, has loose threads or missing buttons.
