How To Look Dapper In A Suit

April 28, 2016

To look dapper is to be gentlemanly in appearance and to dress smart regardless of what you are wearing. Whether it be for a cocktail party, wedding, reunion, dinner, or a job interview, looking good in a suit is top priority. Even if your suit is not so expensive, if well pulled off, they will look nice and sharp on you - remember fashion is what you buy, style is how you wear it.

Here Are A Few Tips On How To Look Dapper In A Suit
▶ Men's suit come in various sizes, styles and colours and you will definitely find the one that suits you depending on what your preferences are. However, if you must wear a suit, be sure to pull it off properly and bear in mind that real men wear suits that fit perfectly as the occasion demands.

▶ If you're a shorter person, stick to single-breasted jackets. Double-breasted jackets can give you a "drowning-in-fabric" look and make you appear smaller. If you're bigger around the middle, wear a lower-buttoning jacket rather than one with a higher placket. It will give you a longer silhouette

▶ A good suit should hug your shoulders. Let it hold you firmly, in a friendly way! It should make you look smart and taller and not slouch off your shoulder as though you borrowed the suit to pose with.

▶ Choose the right accessories for the occasion. With a black tux, try a silver necktie, or one with a subtle stripe or weave. Black ties are formal. While colored ties can fit a wide range of occasions — just make sure that it doesn't take away the focus from your overall suit. Also wear a matching belt — black is usually a good color for everything, except for khaki-toned suits, which should be worn with brown belts. Your belt buckle should mostly match the color of your shoes and other accessories like your wrist watch.

▶ To spice up your dapper style, be sure to always ;
➡Wear pocket square

➡Show off your cuffs

➡Wear solid shoes that suits the occassion. For example; Oxford shoes (which can be worn for any occasion), loafers (which can be used for dressy or sporty occasions) and monk straps (which are for more dressy events).
➡ If you are wearing a watch, and your sleeve is above it, it means your sleeves are too short.

➡Your suit appearance should reflect vintage, urban, and classy styles. That is, everything from the choice of shoes, wristwatch, cufflinks to pocket square should all complement your style.

▶ The final and most important tip to take note of is care for your suit at all points of the year. As soon as you arrive home in it, make sure that it’s hung out in an open space. This will help to air the outfit, before you can then place it back in your wardrobe, preferably on a wide hanger to preserve the shape.
