Let's Talk Private: 7 Bras Every Woman Needs To Own

Hi Styledivas,

It's noted this days that ladies just go to the market to pick a fancy bra without a thought if it fits their body size and the outfit to which it's worn on. Although bra is a functional undergarment for women and their are so many brassieres out in the market, ranging from the affordable to the million-dollar bra, you should know that different styles of bras have different fits and functions and are geared towards different body types.

So when searching for a bra style that is best for you, always find one that is comfortable, supportive, and complimentary to your shape.

We've therefore rounded up six bras you'll ever really need. And chances are, you don't have them all.  This guide will analyse the function of the different bras, when you should wear it and when to replace it for another pair.

1. T-Shirt Bra

A t - shirt bra, also known as a contour bra, is a bra that is designed to be worn under thin shirts to provide a smooth, invisible look. So if you are fond of wearing body-fit tees and dresses, then a t-shirt bra is what you need. It is one of the must have bras simply because it prevents a wardrobe mishap. Unlike lacy, textured bras, t-shirt bras are simple in style, and are intended to hide bulges, bumps, and wrinkles that are otherwise often visible through a woman's shirt. For the best fit, replace your t-shirt bra after six months of regular usage.

2. Push-up Bra

Whether you are a cup A or a cup D, a push up bra is one of the best must have bras in the world. Designed with additional padding at the bottom portion of the cup to lift the breast, it gives the illusion of a fuller bust and can create cleavage where none existed.
It's most frequently used for evening wear or with outfits that you need to add some boost to. Since you're likely not wearing these very often unless for night use or on a club date, push-up bras can last for up to nine months.

3. Strapless Bra

If you are fond of tube tops and strapless tops, then you know that a strapless bra is one of the essential must have bras in your closet. What’s great about this bra is that it comes in various styles. Whether you have the corseted one or the plunging one, know that it’s best to get a new one every now and then.
You might not wear strapless tops very often, but nevertheless, a strapless bra is essential.

4. Bralette

Of all the must have bras, the bralette should be your bestie. Seamless and unpadded, a bralette provides comfortable support. Since it is ideal for daily wear, it might lose fit after four-five months of constant use. And when this happens, it means it is time to buy a new bralette.

5. Sports Bra

A sports bra provides strong, comfortable fitting support to a woman's breasts during physical activity. It is essential to wear this type of bra during any physical exercise because it minimizes breast movement, and alleviates the discomfort that women often feel during intensive movement. Even if you are not sporty, know that a sports bra is one of the most important must have bras. That’s because it avoids breast tissue damage that can result even from regular walking. Remember that efficacy is important for the sports bra, so if you feel that it is no longer doing its job, replace it after six to eight months of regular use.

6. Conversible Bra

Of all the bras you don't have, it's likely you've avoided buying this one because you feel you won't need it. But I must say, it's the most versatile bra and if you need a quick solution for a complicated outfit or you don’t feel comfortable wearing a strapless bra underneath your halter tops and spaghetti straps, then consider investing in a convertible bra. While they might look complicated, it saves you the effort from buying an expensive, specially-made bra. Since you won’t need to wear this quite often, a convertible bra can last longer than other must have bras.

7. Demi Bra

Consider this the ultimate date-night bra. This ultra flattering option, which comes with or without padding has little cleavage coverage so if you're wearing a dress with low neck line or need your boobs to appear bigger in a dress then you need this. It's also perfect for low-cut tops or those with wide scoop or square necklines where an everyday bra would show.
You won't wear it more than once a week, but because it is more delicate, this bra should still be replaced every year to 18 months if it's starting to lose its hold.

So divas, which bra have you updated in your closet? And which one do you feel is essential and I didn't talk about? Share your ideas below so we can get inspired...xoxo
